gnorda: How Two Tech Geniuses Revolutionized Trail Shoes and Clothes | norda x gnuhr Collaboration (2026)

Two Tech Titans Unite to Revolutionize Trail Gear – But Will It Be Too Minimalist for Some?

Ever encountered running shoes that feel like they've landed from the future? That's precisely the vibe with norda running shoes. These aren't your average sneakers; they're engineered with cutting-edge technology that's practically unheard of in the industry. Imagine footwear built with Dyneema, the world's strongest fiber, and custom foam compounds typically found in high-performance automobiles. Yet, despite this technological prowess, norda’s shoes boast a remarkably clean aesthetic and subtle color palettes, setting them apart from the often overly flashy designs of their competitors. It’s a fascinating marriage of radical innovation and sleek, sophisticated construction.

Norda largely operates in a league of its own in this regard. However, they've found a perfect partner in gnuhr, a burgeoning outdoor label that crafts technical gear so meticulously refined, it earned them a spot on our prestigious Good Clothes Index. Nur Abbas, the visionary founder of gnuhr, explains their philosophy: “We strip away the noise to focus on function, but we believe there's a visual elegance in that too. The core of simplifying things is about intense focus and a clear purpose. Every design choice boils down to one question: Does this product excel at its intended job?”

Abbas launched gnuhr in 2023 after honing his skills at esteemed fashion houses like Louis Vuitton and with Nike ACG, where he specialized in creating functional apparel that prioritizes beautiful form. This ethos perfectly complements norda’s approach to footwear. Both brands share a strong aversion to design gimmicks and a deep-seated passion for transforming top-tier technology into practical, elegantly designed products.

This shared vision led to a natural collaboration. After some informal exchanges of ideas and lending products for photoshoots, the two labels decided to join forces. The result is a groundbreaking partnership, playfully named gnorda, expressed in an all-lowercase moniker.

Operating under the principle of “minimum construction for maximum effect,” as Abbas describes it, the duo has created a complete trail running and recovery ensemble. This collection, which launched on January 29, is headlined by a stunning iteration of norda’s 002 sneaker. Dubbed the “world’s most responsive trail running shoe,” this collaboration sees the usual vibrant, wavy reflective overlays replaced with a simple, elegant grid pattern. As Abbas puts it, it’s been “stripped back to its purest form.” Complementing the sneaker is norda's already impressive 008 recovery slide, which needed only a fresh coat of pale-blue paint to fit seamlessly into the collection.

But the innovation doesn't stop at footwear. While norda is known for incorporating Dyneema into its trail shoes, this collaboration sees the fiber – which is incredibly lightweight and an astonishing 15 times stronger than steel – woven directly into clothing. Nick Martire, the founder of norda, enthusiastically shares, “I love how we’ve used Dyneema in this collection.” He’s referring to the loose-fitting windbreakers and matching windpants, crafted using an advanced fabric innovation that merges Dyneema with ripstop nylon. “It’s light, breathable, and still incredibly durable,” Martire elaborates. “It truly highlights Dyneema’s remarkable versatility.”

But here's where it gets controversial... While the windproof track jacket is practically indestructible, the duo’s running T-shirt is designed to be adaptable, even “destroyed” in a sense. The gnorda Warp T-tank, made from a single piece of warp-knit garment-dyed Italian nylon, features small cut-outs. This ingenious design allows you to remove fabric panels, transforming the shirt into a crop top, a tank top, or numerous other styles, offering a staggering 36 customization options in total. Is this the ultimate expression of modular design, or a step too far in deconstructing essential apparel?

“We both obsessed over every single detail,” says Abbas. This meticulous attention to detail is palpable when you discover the subtle yet functional elements integrated into these otherwise understated running clothes. It’s clear that these two brands, who rarely collaborate, have invested significant effort to ensure everything meets their exceptionally high standards.

“We are very selective about our collaborations because our primary focus is on creating the absolute best product possible, using the finest available materials. We seek out partners who share this dedication,” explains Martire. “Collaborations should amplify the strengths of both brands, and we feel that gnorda has achieved exactly that.”
