Wolves' golf day: A hero returns, and a new tradition is born
The Wolves Foundation's inaugural Golf Day at South Staffordshire Golf Club was a resounding success, raising over £5,000 for the club's official charity. This event, organized by Pack patrons Berriman Eaton, showcased the power of community and the enduring legacy of Wolves' legendary figures.
What made this event truly special was the participation of former Wolves stars and their impact on the club's history. Jason Guy, a well-known Wolves fan, led the winning team, Staff Direct, alongside former play-off winning boss Dave Jones. Jones' iconic image of parading the league trophy on the Molineux pitch with Sir Jack Hayward was a reminder of the club's glorious past.
The golf day was more than just a friendly competition. It was a networking opportunity, a chance for former players and staff to reconnect and reflect on their shared history. The event also featured a two-course meal, providing a platform for guests to mingle and appreciate the day's achievements.
The presence of Wolves' Vice-President and Foundation honorary patron, John Richards, further emphasized the importance of this initiative. Richards' former teammate, Steve Daley, delivered an inspiring pep talk, adding a touch of nostalgia and camaraderie to the atmosphere.
Kieran Ansell, Head of Business Development with Wolves Foundation, highlighted the significance of Berriman Eaton's support. "As one of our fantastic group of Pack Patrons, Berriman Eaton's contribution is invaluable. Their organization of the event was exceptional, and we were delighted to collaborate with the club and Foundation to make it a success."
Berriman Eaton, a leading estate and letting agency, has been a long-standing supporter of the Wolves Foundation. Their commitment goes beyond being Pack Patrons; it includes staff participation in events like the Molineux Abseil and Wolverhampton 10k. Andy Roberts, Managing Director at Berriman Eaton, expressed his pride in being Pack Patrons, stating, "It's a privilege to support the incredible work the Foundation does in our community."
The Golf Day's success has sparked plans for an annual tradition, with the Berriman Eaton Heritage Cup becoming a permanent fixture at Molineux. This event not only raises funds but also fosters a sense of community and continuity, ensuring Wolves' legacy endures for generations to come.
In my opinion, this golf day was more than just a fundraising event. It was a celebration of Wolves' history, a testament to the power of community, and a reminder that the club's impact extends far beyond the pitch. As Wolves continue to evolve, events like these will play a crucial role in shaping the club's future and maintaining its rich heritage.
